Jesus cleansed the temple, confronting corruption with bold prophetic zeal—an act leading to his crucifixion.
Then I was brought back to the temple entrance; water flowed from beneath the temple threshold toward the east (the temple faced east). The water came down from the south end of the threshold, south of the altar.
I was led out through the north gate, around the outside to the eastern outer gate, where water was flowing on the south side.
He said, "This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah; when it enters the sea—the sea of stagnant waters—the water will become fresh. Wherever the river flows, every living creature will thrive, and there will be many fish once the waters reach there. It will become fresh; everything will live where the river goes."
On both sides of the river, all kinds of trees will grow for food. Their leaves will never wither nor will their fruit fail; they will bear fresh fruit every month because the water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit is for food, and their leaves for healing.
"Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult."
This reflection highlights Jesus' courageous fight against corruption and the life-giving transformation symbolized by the water flowing from the temple, promising renewal and healing.
