Strong weather conditions have prompted overlapping warnings across B.C.’s South Coast and Lower Mainland as of Thursday morning, November 6, 2025.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a rainfall warning for parts of Metro Vancouver, including the North Shore, Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, and Howe Sound.
“An additional 20 to 40 mm of rainfall can be expected before the rain eases off later this evening,” said the ECCC.
Meteorologist Michael Kuss from 1130 NewsRadio predicts the heaviest rain during Thursday afternoon’s commute. The warning advises that water pooling on roads and in low-lying areas may significantly affect rush hour traffic, with potential local utility outages.
A wind warning applies to Richmond, Delta, the Sunshine Coast, and much of eastern Vancouver Island. Winds are expected to reach speeds of 70 to 90 kilometres per hour.
“Residents are advised to secure loose objects,” the ECCC emphasized, noting winds will calm down by evening.
Heavy rain and strong winds are forecasted for B.C.'s South Coast urban areas on Thursday, potentially disrupting traffic and services.
Severe weather warnings signal heavy afternoon rain and strong winds up to 90 km/h in B.C.'s South Coast, urging precautions to reduce impact.
