Rod Stewart shares two children with Penny Lancaster, but initially, the father-of-eight was hesitant to become a dad again when they first met in the 1990s.
Penny Lancaster, 54, gave an emotional glimpse into their home life, saying Rod "sounded like he was dying" during a difficult moment with their baby.
“Every afternoon at exactly 4pm he’d give a shrill scream that sounded as though he was dying.”
The couple shares two sons, Alastair and Aiden. After Alastair's birth, Rod named his tour the Alastair Wallace Stewart Tour, adjusting flights around the baby's naps.
During this time, Penny kept Alastair’s Moses basket by their bed. The baby's colic was especially distressing for her.
“In the end the only thing that would calm him was the sound of Rod’s Great American Songbook collection gently playing.”
Penny reflected that the music likely reminded Alastair of the womb’s security, recalling she had heard Rod recording the songs while pregnant.
Penny shares heartfelt memories of early parenthood challenges, highlighting the comforting power of Rod’s music in their family life.
