Franklin & Marshall College canceled all campus events this weekend after a transformer malfunction caused extensive power outages.
A transformer on Harrisburg Pike malfunctioned Saturday morning, disrupting power across the campus and nearby neighborhoods. All residence halls, except Roschel College House, are running on emergency generators. Roschel College House residents were relocated, and staff will update students on when the hall will reopen.
Several campus facilities, including Shadek-Fackenthal Library and Martin Library, will remain closed until this evening due to the outage.
“We are pleased to report that significant progress has been made, and we remain confident that full power will be restored to campus later today,” said Peter Durantine, director of media relations.
Repair crews are actively working to restore power by evening.
The transformer malfunction caused widespread outages, forcing campus closures and relocation of events, while repair teams work to restore full electricity today.
