All-New Hilux Debuts Globally with All-Electric Powertrain

Toyota has unveiled the ninth-generation Hilux, introducing an all-electric powertrain for the first time while continuing to offer the reliable 2.8-litre diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Alongside this, Toyota confirmed the arrival of a hydrogen fuel-cell electric version of the Hilux, expected in 2028.

Design and Exterior Features

The new Hilux undergoes a significant design transformation, aligning its looks with the latest Toyota Land Cruiser SUV. The front features sleek LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights (DRLs) and a prominent closed grille showcasing the bold ‘TOYOTA’ badge at the center.

The front bumper enhances its rugged character, boasting a muscular and protruding shape, silver accents on the lower section, and neatly integrated LED fog lamps on both sides.

Side and Rear Profile

The Hilux maintains its classic dual-cab silhouette with a flatbed and is equipped with aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels. The all-electric version includes a charging flap on the front fender, distinctive to the electric model.

At the rear, the pickup sports vertically stacked C-shaped LED taillights and an all-black bumper. Additional rear highlights include ‘TOYOTA’ badging on the flatbed gate and high-mounted brake lights positioned above the flatbed handle.

Toyota confirmed a hydrogen fuel-cell electric version of the Hilux, scheduled to arrive in 2028.
