Mackney earned admiration not only from Toronto fans in the 1970s and 1980s but also worldwide. He competed in Japan with both New Japan Pro Wrestling and All-Japan Pro Wrestling, and wrestled across various National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) territories, including Mid-Atlantic.
When the WWF expanded into Toronto, Mackney continued working there for Vince McMahon for several years.
