The Georgia Bulldogs football family came together this week as current players and legendary alumni joined forces for a significant charity event supporting former coach Mark Richt’s battle with Parkinson’s disease.
The annual Dawg Bowl, held on Wednesday, was a bowling fundraiser benefiting the Isakson Center for Neurological Disease Research. Proceeds from the event will support research on Parkinson’s and Crohn’s diseases.
Diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2021, Coach Mark Richt organized this event to raise both funds and awareness. Former players showed strong support for their coach’s cause.
“Every one of the guys I asked said yes,” Richt told DawgsHQ, expressing his gratitude for the impressive turnout.
Current head coach Kirby Smart allowed his active roster to participate, creating a powerful connection between different program eras. Smart, who coached running backs under Richt in 2005, has upheld many of the cultural values Richt established.
Former All-American David Pollack was among the numerous alumni present, highlighting the lasting bonds within the Bulldog community.
Former running back Tyson Browning praised this unity, emphasizing how important it is for older players to feel involved.
The Dawg Bowl exemplified the enduring brotherhood of Georgia football, uniting past and present players to support Mark Richt’s fight against neurological disease.
