In Browns Mills, New Jersey, the family behind Riccardo's Pizza chose to step up for their community during the government shutdown by offering free meals to anyone struggling, no questions asked.

After sharing their offer on social media, the restaurant received overwhelming support — countless calls, messages, and even donations from people who wanted to help.

A Family Legacy of Generosity

Owner Vito Russo explained that helping others felt natural after the community supported their family business for more than five decades. His father, Salvatore Russo, who came to the United States from Sicily, opened Riccardo's Pizza in 1974 and still makes the dough to this day.

Now, three generations of the Russo family work together at the pizzeria, treating their staff and customers as part of one big extended family.

“As long as the Good Lord gives me the grace and the opportunity and this platform, we'll keep it rocking and rolling,” said Vito Russo.
