The Toronto Blue Jays have joined the Los Angeles Dodgers in paying tribute to Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia during the World Series. Vesia is absent from the team due to a “deeply personal family matter,” as stated by the Dodgers before Game 1.
Dodgers pitchers have been honoring Vesia by wearing his No. 48 on their uniforms. In solidarity, Blue Jays relievers Chris Bassitt, Seranthony Domínguez, Mason Fluharty, and Louis Varland have also started wearing No. 48 during the series.
