Peloton Recalls 833,000 Bikes After Reports of Injuries

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has urged Peloton customers to stop using certain exercise bikes immediately. The company is recalling about 833,000 of its original Bike+ machines after several reports of seat posts breaking during use.

Details of the Recall

According to the CPSC, Peloton received three complaints connected to the issue, including two incidents that resulted in user injuries. The affected Bike+ units were sold between January 2020 and April 2025.

"The integrity of our products and our Members’ well-being are our top priorities," said Márcio Oliveira, Peloton’s Senior Vice President of Global Hardware Operations and Product Safety.

Oliveira added that Peloton is offering redesigned seat posts to all affected customers and encouraged them to request replacements as soon as possible.

Company Background and Previous Recalls

This recall is not unprecedented for Peloton. In 2023, the company withdrew approximately 2.2 million exercise bikes due to safety concerns following customer injury reports.

The latest action comes amid ongoing challenges for the company, including a change in leadership and significant workforce reductions last year. Peloton plans to release its next earnings report on Thursday as it works to rebuild growth after declining post-pandemic sales.
