Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Klay Thompson came off the bench for the first time since joining the team on Wednesday night in a 101–99 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite the lineup change, Thompson expressed that he is comfortable with the decision and optimistic about the team's future.
"I don't mind," Thompson told The Dallas Morning News. "I know it is."
Kidd said, "I thought him coming off the bench gave us a spark." He also shared that he discussed the move with Thompson earlier that day and reassured him it was not permanent.
"This isn't a permanent thing, but can you come off the bench?" Kidd told Thompson. "And he was good with it."
At nearly 36 years old, Thompson is currently averaging 8.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and shooting 29.2% from three-point range this season. Over his 873-game NBA career, he has started 821 times.
