Peloton is recalling seats on older Bike+ models and will provide replacements free of charge. This recall applies to Bike+ models manufactured between December 2019 and July 2022 and sold in the U.S.
This is a voluntary recall focusing on the seat posts of affected Bike+ models. If your Bike+ has a PL02 model number on the label located inside or behind the front fork or behind the flywheel, it qualifies for the recall.
Peloton states the seat post "can break during use, posing a potential fall and injury risk to consumers."
While this recall is related to a previous one for classic Bike models, the issue appears less severe. The earlier recall involved at least 11 reported injuries, whereas Peloton has received only three reports of seats breaking from about 833,000 units in the U.S. There have been no reports among the nearly 45,000 units in Canada.
The recall does not affect the new Cross Training Bike+ released recently.
Older Peloton Bike+ seat posts manufactured between December 2019 and July 2022 may break, and Peloton is offering free replacements to ensure user safety.
