Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife, Kayla, revealed through Instagram that they lost their newborn daughter, Sterling Sol, who passed away on Sunday, October 26. The pitcher had previously left the team before the World Series due to what was described as “a deeply personal family matter.”
“Our little angel, we love you forever and you’re with us always. Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday, October 26. There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through, but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.”
Vesia thanked the Dodgers organization, his teammates, and fans for their compassion and support during this difficult period.
“Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them.”
Throughout the World Series, Dodgers relievers honored Vesia by wearing his number 51 on their caps. Players from the opposing Toronto Blue Jays also joined in this gesture of solidarity. The couple expressed their gratitude to everyone who reached out, saying that the baseball community’s compassion brought them comfort in their grief.
“Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization, and all baseball fans for your love and support. We’ve seen every message and post, and it’s brought us so much comfort.”
Alex and Kayla Vesia publicly shared their grief over losing their newborn daughter, receiving heartfelt support from the entire baseball community.
