The chimney at a historic pub near Himley, close to Dudley, has been shortened following a car collision for safety reasons. Workmen have been removing bricks from the top of the chimney to secure the building.
The pub is part of the Admiral Taverns chain. Due to the repairs, a section of the road outside has been closed, and the site remains inaccessible.
After the crash, which occurred around 12:50 a.m., a man living in the pub’s flat contacted the licensee. Ambulance and fire services attended, but the car’s occupants had already left the scene.
The safety work is being carried out by Wulfrun Building Services, based in Wolverhampton.
A spokeswoman for Admiral Taverns said: "We are aware of the incident at The Old Bush in Dudley in the early hours of Thursday, October 30. Thankfully, the resident on site was not injured."
Summary: The chimney of a Dudley pub was lowered by professionals for safety after a car crash, with no injuries reported.
