Kenyan athlete Ronzas Lokitam Kilimo triumphed in the 47th Intercontinental Istanbul Marathon, completing the race in 2:10:12. The marathon, which connects Asia and Europe, remains one of the most remarkable athletic events of its kind.
According to Ukrinform, citing the official competition website, Ethiopian runners Debela Dejene and Kebato Sufaro Volii finished second and third with times of 2:10:23 and 2:10:26, respectively.
Twenty-one of the 23 registered Ukrainian participants took part in the marathon, including 12 women and 9 men. This marks another active participation by Ukrainian athletes in an international athletics event.

In the 2021 edition of the Istanbul Marathon, 12 Ukrainian men and 5 Ukrainian women made it into the top hundred finishers, showing continued growth and competitiveness of Ukrainian long-distance running.
