Göteborg Landvetter Airport in Sweden resumed normal operations after being temporarily shut down due to drone activity on November 6, 2025. Authorities confirmed that air traffic restrictions lasted for several hours before clearance was granted later that evening.
The Swedish Civil Aviation Authority reported that drones were spotted in the airport’s airspace shortly before 18:00 local time. Spokesperson Björn Stavås explained that it remained unclear whether there was one drone or multiple devices involved.
“Drones were first seen around the airport before 18:00 local time, though it’s uncertain if there was just a single drone or several,” said Björn Stavås of the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration.
The airport, Sweden’s second largest, suspended operations for about three and a half hours before reopening its airspace at approximately 21:30 local time. The Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) reported that several flights were disrupted during the closure.
The Swedish Armed Forces and police were informed about the incident to investigate the unauthorized drone activity. Swedavia, which manages Göteborg Landvetter and nine other airports across Sweden, advised travelers to monitor updates from their airlines or tour operators.
“Travelers are asked to stay in touch with their airline or tour operator,” a Swedavia statement read.
Drone activity near Göteborg Landvetter Airport led to a three-hour flight suspension on November 6, 2025, causing multiple delays and cancellations before operations resumed later that evening.
