Merseyside Police temporarily closed a section of Upper Parliament Street in Liverpool on the evening of Wednesday, 5 November, following a police response to threats involving a possible firearm.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police reported they were alerted just after 8:45 pm about a male allegedly making threats towards residents on Upper Parliament Street. Armed officers attended the scene and arrested a man on suspicion of possessing a firearm. The suspect was taken into custody, but no weapon was found. The road closure was brief and has since been lifted.
“There was a gang of kids and a man came out of a house and threatened them with something that looked like a gun. I think he thought they were messing around with fireworks.”
“I was just in my flat and then I heard all these sirens. I looked out the window and there were around 10 police cars. They blocked off the road for around 10 minutes and it all died down then. I just came out to see what had happened.”
