Suspected Serial Rapist Appears in KwaDukuza Court

A 36-year-old man, believed to be behind a string of rapes and robberies, will appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate's Court.

The suspect has been linked to nine cases reported between 2013 and 2016 in KwaDukuza, Mandeni, and Tongaat. According to KZN police, he and an accomplice targeted women aged 15-37, threatening them with a knife before robbing and sexually assaulting them.

On 28 January 2013, a 21-year-old woman was walking near a bridge in Darnall when she was approached by two unknown men who dragged her to a nearby bush and raped her.

Provincial SAPS spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo says the suspect was caught hiding in a forest on Thursday.
