Edinburgh Trams will honor Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November) to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, and recent conflicts.
To recognize the sacrifices of armed forces members, Edinburgh Trams will offer free tram travel to veterans and serving personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force on both days. Eligible travelers can access the service by showing their military ID or wearing their uniform.
Before the days of remembrance, Poppy Scotland representatives will be stationed at the Haymarket tram stop to sell poppies for those who wish to make a donation.
Poppies will also be displayed in the tram windows as a sign of respect.
Where it is safe, tram services will pause at 11am on both days to observe a two-minute silence, honoring the memory of the fallen.
“Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. As a former veteran myself, and a number of our colleagues being former service men and women, we are passionate about paying tribute to all of those who have paid the ultimate price throughout the years while serving our country.”
— Lea Harrison, Edinburgh Trams Managing Director
Edinburgh Trams is committed to honoring military service and ensuring their remembrance is observed respectfully within the community.
