Three prisoners appeared separately before Leeds Magistrates' Court via video link from Havertop Police Station. They face charges related to Bevan's murder, which occurred on November 5 at HMP Wakefield.

Officers responded to the prison around 8:25 a.m. on Wednesday after reports of an inmate found dead in his cell. The Prison Service confirmed the deceased was Kyle Bevan, who was serving a life sentence for the murder of his partner's two-year-old daughter, Lola James, in 2020 in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

Court Proceedings

During the one-minute long hearings, all three men wore grey prison-issued sweatpants and tops, accompanied by police officers. District Judge Charlotte Holland committed all three cases to Leeds Crown Court with a hearing scheduled for November 10.

"You are charged with one allegation of murder. That is so serious I therefore have to send you to Leeds Crown Court. The next hearing will be a plea and trial preparation hearing. I am not able to consider bail and so you will be remanded into custody."
