Remembrance Day Events in Waterloo Region

Remembrance Day, observed on Tuesday, is a moment to honor the sacrifices made by Canadians in military service and peacekeeping missions. The Waterloo region will host several ceremonies beginning this weekend and continuing through Tuesday.

Wellington County Museum and Archives

At dusk, visitors can place candles on memorial markers at the museum. These candles will stay lit until Wednesday. All materials are provided, and everyone is welcome to participate.

Cambridge Events

Kitchener Ceremony

The Fred Gies Branch 50 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold its annual ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m. The reading of the names of the fallen begins at 10 a.m. The parade will depart from Ontario Street, travel along King and Frederick Streets, and end at the cenotaph on Duke Street where the service will begin at 10:45 a.m.

Waterloo Ceremony

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 530 will host its annual Remembrance Day service, with the parade starting at 10:15 a.m. The ceremony at the Waterloo Cenotaph on Regina Street, near city hall, begins at 10:30 a.m. Inside city hall, a display of ceramic poppies will be available for viewing.

New Hamburg Service

The parade will begin at the funeral home at 291 Huron Street and proceed to the cenotaph for a wreath-laying ceremony. An indoor service at the New Hamburg Community Centre will follow, along with a social gathering at the Legion on 65 Boullee Street.
