On October 14, 2025, youth journalists from KidScoop Media spoke with education activist Malala Yousafzai via Zoom to discuss her new memoir, Finding My Way.
Finding My Way chronicles Malala’s experiences as a student at Oxford, highlighting the joys and challenges she faced. The memoir sheds light on her efforts to balance education advocacy with her studies, her evolving understanding of mental health and self-care, and her journey through personal relationships. It offers an intimate look at her life and perspective, enriching the genre with her unique story.
“I have come against criticism, comments my whole life. And you know, I have now grown through it… You know, I try to take any positive um, you know, good recommendation that can be helpful, but then there’s a lot that is not helpful at all and doesn’t add anything to the mission that I am focused on. So, sometimes, the best way is to avoid it."
In both the memoir and the interview, Malala reflected on growing up under intense public attention as a girls’ education activist, describing how she manages criticism while staying focused on her mission.
This interview reveals Malala’s resilience and growth, offering readers a heartfelt look at her journey balancing activism, personal challenges, and education during a transformative time in her life.
