Fog Turns to Snowfall in Calgary

A foggy Friday morning in Calgary transformed into a light snowfall, though it’s not expected to linger for long. The shift occurred around 8:30 a.m. as snow began falling in the downtown core, moving southward from the city’s northern areas.

Earlier in the morning, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued an advisory warning of limited visibility due to fog, along with the chance of rain, snow, or even some freezing rain.

“Precipitation was in the forecast for the morning hours, but our temperature stayed just cool enough to keep most of that mix as snow. Once it’s gone, it’s pretty much gone,” explained meteorologist Kevin Stanfield from 660 NewsRadio. “Our high today hits 3°C, so any area that caught a new coat will likely see that melt off too.”

Motorists are being urged to drive carefully, as slick conditions may develop during the brief period of snow. For the latest traffic, weather, and breaking news updates, residents can listen to 660 NewsRadio or CityNews 24/7.
