The Fijian Teachers Association (FTA) is pushing for the reintroduction of corporal punishment as a disciplinary measure.
FTA General Secretary Paula Manumanunitoga says teachers are being sworn at, objects thrown at them, and female teachers are being abused.
Manumanunitoga notes that these issues are now happening in both primary and secondary schools, and that parents are not fulfilling their roles in disciplining their children.
