Jackson Blake and Sean Walker each contributed a goal and an assist as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Minnesota Wild 4-3 at Lenovo Center on Thursday. Andrei Svechnikov and Nikolaj Ehlers also scored for Carolina, while Frederik Andersen made 21 saves. The Hurricanes improved their record to 9-4-0, winning two straight and three of their last four games.
“Blake is probably the one who needs the most credit for tonight,” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “The one goal was all him, and the other was just a great pass.”
For Minnesota, Matt Boldy scored twice in the game, which marked his 300th NHL appearance. Filip Gustavsson stopped 23 shots for the Wild, who had been on a two-game winning streak before this loss, now holding a 5-7-3 record.
“They’re a high-pressure team. There were times I thought we handled it well, and there were times when there was another good team on the ice too,” Minnesota coach John Hynes commented. “We got some looks in different segments of the game.”
Boldy opened the scoring at 5:34 of the first period after Hurricanes forward Mark Jankowski accidentally slid the puck beneath Andersen, allowing Boldy to tap in the loose puck in the slot.
The teams then combined for three goals in just 52 seconds during an intense 4-on-4 sequence, highlighting the fast-paced and competitive nature of the contest.
The Carolina Hurricanes edged the Minnesota Wild 4-3 in a tightly contested game, powered by clutch performances from Blake and Walker, overcoming Boldy’s two goals for Minnesota.
