Filmmaker Edgar Wright, known for his sharp sense of rhythm and tone, recently addressed circulating rumors and offered rare insight into the unpredictable nature of Hollywood production. In an interview for The Playlist’s Discourse Podcast discussing his upcoming work on “The Running Man,” Wright set the record straight about a few speculations.
“I didn’t hear about that,” Wright said when asked about reports linking him and Simon Pegg to a Coen-inspired project. “Where did the Coen Brothers thing come from? I didn’t hear that.”
He explained that the rumor stemmed from a casual remark that snowballed into false reports. Wright laughed off the claim, emphasizing that no such collaboration ever existed.
During the conversation, Wright also confirmed that a completed script for Baby Driver 2 does exist. However, he clarified that its production timeline remains uncertain, pointing to the complex and often slow process of film development.
“Night Stalker is long gone,” he admitted. “Lots of things are in development, and many are at the script stage. The development process is long, and some things go and some things don’t. People don’t always understand that not all directors are in control of what gets made next.”
Wright highlighted that even seasoned directors do not always dictate which projects move forward, underscoring the collaborative and unpredictable nature of the industry.
Edgar Wright denied rumors of a Coen-style project, confirmed the “Baby Driver 2” script, and revealed how chaotic and uncertain Hollywood development truly is.
