Fiorentina has dismissed head coach Stefano Pioli following one of the worst starts in the club's Serie A history. The club confirmed Pioli’s departure on Monday after the team failed to win any of their first 10 league games this season.
Daniele Galloppa, the Under-20s coach, has been appointed as caretaker manager. Galloppa will lead Fiorentina in their upcoming Conference League match against Mainz 05, with the team currently leading their group after two games.
Pioli had signed a three-year contract with Fiorentina this summer, marking his second spell at the club (previously June 2017–April 2019).
“This is the first time Pioli has failed to win a single league match during his time in charge of a club,” the club noted.
Before rejoining Fiorentina, Pioli managed several Serie A teams including Bologna, Chievo, Inter, Lazio, Milan, and Parma.
Galloppa will oversee the team’s efforts to regain form as Fiorentina looks to recover in both domestic and European competitions.
Summary: Fiorentina has parted ways with Stefano Pioli after 10 winless Serie A games, appointing Daniele Galloppa as interim coach amid a historically poor season start.
