Former NFL star Antonio Brown was extradited from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to the United States to face trial for an attempted murder charge related to a shooting incident in May, Miami police confirmed Thursday.
Brown, 37, is currently held in Essex County, New Jersey, while awaiting another extradition to Miami-Dade County, where the trial will take place. The exact timing of his apprehension and transfer to Miami-Dade remains unclear.
“This is just another example of the relentless work and dedication of Miami Police detectives, working closely with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshals to identify and arrest those who commit crimes in the City of Miami,” police said in a statement.
The attempted murder charge relates to a dispute that occurred on May 16 during a boxing event hosted by influencer Adin Ross. Brown’s social media posts indicated he had been residing in Dubai for several months prior to his arrest.
When the arrest warrant was issued in June, Brown had an attorney who arranged a $10,000 bond and house arrest conditions. However, Brown did not surrender to authorities, and police had not confirmed plans for his extradition at that time.
This case highlights the ongoing collaboration between law enforcement agencies across jurisdictions to bring suspects to justice.
