Livinia Nixon to Step Down from 9News Melbourne Weather

After two decades as the face of Melbourne’s weather on 9News, Livinia Nixon announced she will be stepping down from her weather presenter role. Her last bulletin will air on Tuesday, 18 November.

Nixon joined the Nine Network in 1997 and began presenting the Melbourne weather in 2004. She explained her decision is based on family priorities as her two sons enter their senior school years.

“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them.”

Though she is leaving the nightly weather role, Nixon will continue to appear on Nine’s popular travel shows Getaway and Postcards.

“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me.”
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’ I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”

Livinia Nixon’s departure marks the end of an era in Melbourne weather presenting, as she shifts focus to family while continuing her travel program commitments.

Author’s summary: Livinia Nixon leaves her 20-year role as 9News Melbourne weather presenter to support her sons’ schooling, while continuing her work on Nine’s travel shows.
