Antonio Brown, a former star of Central Michigan University and the NFL, has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder investigation in Miami, confirmed by Miami Police.
The charge relates to an event on May 16, following a celebrity boxing match in Miami. Brown was briefly detained after shots were fired during an altercation.
Brown stated on social media: “I had been jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me.” He added, “Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED.”
However, in June, it was reported by the Associated Press that Brown was named in an arrest warrant accusing him of grabbing a handgun from a security staffer and firing two shots at a man with whom he had a fistfight earlier. The victim informed investigators that a bullet grazed his neck.
Brown was arrested in Dubai and transferred to Newark, New Jersey, where Miami Police took custody of him.
Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales stated: “Let this serve as a clear message; no matter who you are or where you run, we will pursue the facts, identify you, locate you, and bring you to justice.”
Brown is awaiting extradition to Miami to face charges related to the shooting that took place in the city’s Little Haiti neighborhood.
Antonio Brown faces serious legal charges after a shooting incident in Miami, highlighting law enforcement's commitment to pursuing justice regardless of the individual's status.
