It’s Not Too Late to Get Your Flu Vaccination

Somerset Council is urging eligible residents to get their flu vaccination if they have not yet done so. The best time to receive a flu jab is during autumn or early winter, before the flu virus spreads widely.

This year, flu cases are already being reported. Flu is more serious than a common cold and can increase the risk of severe lung and airway infections, such as bronchitis and pneumonia, or worsen existing health conditions.

Council Member's Message

"Protecting yourself means protecting others. With flu already circulating, now is the perfect time for those who are eligible. It’s quick, safe and helps stop the spread to those most at risk."
— Councillor Graham Oakes, Somerset Council’s Executive Member for Public Health, Climate Change and Environment

Why Vaccination Matters

Residents who believe they are eligible but have not received an invitation should contact their GP practice.

Author’s summary: Somerset Council emphasizes the importance of timely flu vaccination to reduce serious health risks and protect vulnerable community members during the ongoing flu season.
