Dan Aykroyd, known for his iconic roles in Ghostbusters and Coneheads, returns to the History Channel as the host of The UnBelievable, now entering its third season on November 7. The show uncovers strange but true stories from history through reenactments, archival material, and interviews.
The season premiere, titled “Strange Sightings,” features eerie accounts including rumors of sinister clowns haunting neighborhoods and mysterious events along what’s known as “America’s Most Haunted Highway.” Viewers can expect a mix of unsettling folklore and documented mysteries.
While discussing the new season, Aykroyd shared a personal story about his encounter with the supernatural and reflected on his family’s deep connection to spiritualism — a theme that has long influenced his work.
“That was one of my favorites. I had heard about the I-4 highway story before the researchers proposed it for the show. I thought, ‘wow, this is a real thing.’ People I had spoken to many years ago told me this story. As for the clowns, I still don’t know, man. The fact there was this rumor in suburban America, and these clowns were appearing everywhere. Very haunting, very eerie, very creepy.”
Aykroyd’s fascination with the unexplained extends beyond the screen. His openness to paranormal topics reflects both curiosity and heritage, as he often credits his family’s spiritualist roots for inspiring his creative pursuits.
Author’s Summary: Dan Aykroyd blends his lifelong fascination with the supernatural and his spiritualist heritage to lead the third season of The UnBelievable into new, chilling territory.
