‘Losing support’: Liberal Senator raises serious concerns with Sussan Ley’s leadership

Liberal Senator Raises Concerns Over Sussan Ley’s Leadership

Senior Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson has voiced concerns about Sussan Ley's leadership as the Coalition faces growing internal division over its stance on net zero emissions. The debate within the party continues to intensify amid pressure to announce whether the Liberals will align with the Nationals, who recently abandoned the policy.

A meeting of the Liberal Party room is scheduled for Sunday, November 16, to decide the Coalition’s final position on the issue. Henderson, who opposes the net zero plan, discussed the matter with Sky News Australia host Peter Stefanovic on Friday and questioned Ley’s standing within the party.

"I cannot support the way things are," said Senator Henderson.

When asked about Ley’s current position, Henderson admitted the situation was concerning, citing poor polling results and internal dissatisfaction.

"I can't pretend things are good. We've had a dire Newspoll result, a primary vote of just 24 per cent. Things are not travelling well," Henderson confessed.

"I do think Sussan is losing support, but I still believe in miracles — we can turn things around," she added.

Party Facing Leadership Pressure

Henderson’s remarks highlight the growing sense of unease within the Liberal Party, as members question the leadership and future policy direction amid weak public support.
