Multiple personnel became ill at Joint Base Andrews, a U.S. military installation near Washington, following the opening of a suspicious package containing an unknown white powder.
The package was opened in one of the base's buildings, which was subsequently evacuated as a safety measure. This building also hosts the Air National Guard Readiness Center.
“As a precaution, the building and connecting building (at the base) were evacuated, and a cordon was established around the area,” stated Joint Base Andrews.
“Joint Base Andrews first responders were dispatched to the scene, determined there were no immediate threats, and have turned the scene over to the Office of Special Investigations. An investigation is currently ongoing,” according to CNN quoting the military base.
Joint Base Andrews, located in Maryland, is frequently used by President Donald Trump to board flights to key events.
