At the core of The Line in Saudi Arabia, a stadium powered entirely by renewable energy will soon be constructed. Named Neom Stadium, it is set to be one of fifteen venues for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
Recently, videos and renderings circulated online depicting a stadium perched atop a futuristic skyscraper, suspended over a desert megacity illuminated by highways. These images suggested a dramatic design for Neom Stadium located north of the Red Sea, east of Egypt.
“These visuals, however, have proven to be unfounded in the official plans.”
Despite the misleading visuals, the actual project remains highly innovative and unique as outlined in the official Saudi Arabia FIFA World Cup 2034 Bid Book.
Neom Stadium is part of Saudi Vision 2030, the kingdom’s long-term plan to develop sustainable infrastructure. The stadium is the centerpiece of The Line, a 500-meter-high linear city designed with five levels to accommodate nine million residents in vertical neighborhoods within 34 square kilometers.
The entire city and stadium will run fully on renewable energy, emphasizing sustainability and futuristic urban planning.
“Developed within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030 — the Saudi Arabia's long-term plan for sustainable infrastructure development — the Neom Stadium represents the flagship project of The Line.”
Though not as visualized on social media, the Neom Stadium project remains ambitious and a landmark for sustainable sports infrastructure.
Author’s summary: Neom Stadium, part of the futuristic, eco-friendly Line city, is a bold and sustainable centerpiece planned for the 2034 FIFA World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
