The Supreme Court of Canada will announce next Thursday whether it will hear a high-profile case from B.C.'s Interior involving Universal Ostrich Farms in Edgewood.
The dispute concerns a planned cull ordered last December by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) after an avian flu outbreak affected the ostrich flock, resulting in the death of 69 birds.
The Supreme Court has temporarily halted the cull and instructed the CFIA to keep custody of the birds while it decides whether to hear the farm owners’ appeal, following previous losses in lower courts.
The Supreme Court of Canada will make a decision next week about whether it will hear a high-profile case out of B.C’s Interior.
