Rick Stein on Opening a Restaurant in Coogee

Some celebrity chefs divide opinion, while others appeal only to specific audiences. However, Rick Stein is universally loved. This renowned UK chef and TV personality has been a familiar face on Australia's east coast dining scene for over 15 years, visiting so frequently that he is almost an unofficial Aussie citizen.

Expanding His Seafood Legacy in Sydney

Rick Stein is preparing to make an exciting addition to Sydney’s summer dining options by opening a restaurant in the Eastern Suburbs. Known for his focus on straightforward yet exceptional seafood, Stein’s latest venture will be located at the new InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach and will seat 224 guests.

Previous Ventures in New South Wales

Despite these successes, there had been little indication of further Australian plans until this year’s announcement of Rick Stein at Coogee Beach.

The Role of Salter Brothers

“The truth of it is that the two Bannisters hotels and my restaurants were taken over by [investment management group] Salter Brothers in October last year,” Stein explains. “And that was a bit of a surprise. But actually starting to work with Salter Brothers, I realised how professional they were and how much I liked working with them.”

This partnership seems to have influenced the decision to expand further in Australia.

Author’s Summary
