Methodist Children's Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, transformed into a festive Halloween celebration, with each unit adopting unique themes, decorating spaces elaborately, and staff wearing costumes to match. This year, the hospital hosted a reverse trick-or-treat event, where leadership went door-to-door handing out candy instead of children asking for it.
San Antonio Spurs forward Julian Champagnie swapped his jersey for a Scooby-Doo costume to make a surprise visit to the hospital. Joined by the Spurs mascot, Coyote, he distributed candy, posed for photos, and engaged with children, discussing basketball, costumes, and anything to brighten their day.
This visit is part of the Spurs’ ongoing efforts to uplift spirits and build strong community connections beyond the basketball court.
“I didn’t make a wish, but it felt like one. It was inspirational to see my actual walking dream.” – Jamal Magee, patient at Methodist Children’s Hospital
The event brought joy and encouragement to young patients and hospital staff, highlighting the power of community and kindness during festive times.
