On Monday, Craig Melvin shared an unexpected confession during his co-hosting of the fourth hour of the Today show alongside Jenna Bush Hager. This was Craig's first time at the Jenna & Friends desk, which has hosted many celebrity guest hosts since Hoda Kotb left in January to focus on her young daughters.
Although Craig has been part of Today for years and replaced Hoda in the show's first two hours, he revealed to Jenna Bush Hager that he had never actually watched Jenna & Friends before.
"This is a nice set," Craig said as he took his seat next to Jenna. "You know, I've never seen the show."
Jenna responded with a playful remark, calling it "so rude." Craig explained that he hadn’t had the chance because he was usually just finishing the third hour when Jenna & Friends started.
"Did you just hear him say he's never watched the show?" Jenna asked the producers.
Craig added, "No, because I'm usually in transit, but this is nice."
Jenna pointed out, "Here's the thing about it. It's a full hour," to which Craig replied, "I know, I could probably watch some of it."
Craig also took a moment to commend Jenna Bush Hager for her work on the show, which has experienced a rotating lineup of guest hosts since Hoda Kotb's departure.
"She has done a great job continuing the spirit of the show," Craig acknowledged.
Despite his longtime role on Today, Craig Melvin's candid admission highlights the behind-the-scenes transitions and camaraderie among hosts on the show.
