Mel Tracina is preparing to move from Melbourne to the Gold Coast to host the eagerly awaited return of Big Brother Australia. The 36-year-old Nova presenter and cultural correspondent for The Cheap Seats is thrilled to revive the show that shaped a generation of Australian reality TV fans.
Mel shares her enthusiasm, saying,
“I’m feeling as excited as every other OG fan. There’s that moment where I have to remind myself that I don’t get to sit at home and watch it – I’m working!”She cherishes the original series’ magic, including its 24/7 live filming and spontaneous moments that captivated viewers.
Reflecting on iconic scenes such as Sara-Marie Fedele’s famous bum dance, Mel emphasizes the importance of authenticity. She explains,
“It just takes somebody being organic. At the time, you didn’t know it would become a part of Aussie culture, like the saying: ‘Game on, moles.’ That authenticity is what we latch onto.”
Mel also fondly remembers the romances that grew as housemates spent extended time together. She says,
“I loved the love stories.”
Mel Tracina looks forward to hosting the new Big Brother, hoping to recreate the authentic moments and iconic memories beloved by longtime Australian fans.
