Travel Weekly visited Rick Stein's latest restaurant at the new InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach, which features a bright Mediterranean beach atmosphere. The 198-key hotel is soon to open, and the restaurant has already attracted significant attention.
The restaurant offers seating for 224 guests across three distinct areas:
The interiors include floor-to-ceiling doors opening to a deck, intimate indoor dining, a 10-seat chef’s table, and two 12-seat banquette areas. Two prominent artworks adorn the walls above — an arrow squid and a school of fish.
Sass’s Bar, named after Stein’s Australian PR wife Sarah, is located in the former karaoke bar of the old Crowne Plaza. The restaurant plans a soft opening with limited seating for 80 guests before Rick Stein’s arrival on December 20.
Interest has been strong, with over 3500 people attempting to book once reservations opened.
“Sydney’s Coogee Beach is the perfect location for our flagship Australian restaurant,” Rick Stein said. “It’s relaxed yet sophisticated, with that incredible connection to the ocean that has always inspired my cooking. For us, this feels like coming home.”
Author's summary: Rick Stein’s new Sydney restaurant captures a sophisticated coastal vibe, promising an intimate dining experience deeply inspired by its beachside location.
