Several personalities from the "Today" show made their cohosting debuts on "Jenna & Friends" this week. Craig Melvin's first appearance alongside Jenna Bush Hager on Monday, November 3, had a humorous and unexpected start.
During the episode, Melvin commented on the set, saying, “This is a nice set,” before revealing,
“You know, I’ve never seen the show.”His admission caught Bush Hager off guard, and she responded playfully,
“That is so rude.”
Melvin clarified that his lack of familiarity was due to scheduling conflicts.
“Well, because usually, we’re just getting off,”he explained, referring to his commitments during the third hour of the "Today" show, adding,
“I’m usually in transit, but this is nice. … I know, I could probably watch some of it.”
At the beginning of the show, Melvin also praised Bush Hager's success with "Jenna & Friends." Since Hoda Kotb left "Today" in January, Bush Hager has been cohosting with different celebrity guests. Melvin said,
“What you have managed to do over the last few months on this show, from just a purely broadcasting perspective, as the kids would say, real recognize[s] real. To be able to sit next to someone different every day or two and do this, that’s a feat.”
Craig Melvin humorously admitted to never watching "Jenna & Friends" before cohosting, while warmly praising Jenna Bush Hager's impressive ability to work alongside a rotating cast of guests.
