Charity pledge from winner Steven Bean

Steven Bean, 52, one of the triple-ticket winners, and his wife Olesya plan to donate part of their quarter-of-a-million-pound prize to a charity supporting adults with learning difficulties.

“The first thing I’m going to do is give some money to a charity who had a bus stolen and burned.”

On October 9, Camphill Milton Keynes, the charity in question, revealed its only minibus had been stolen and then found torched days later.

“The bus is insured, but it won’t cover the cost of getting a new one. Hopefully other people will give them a few quid too.”

Charity response

Lucy Davies, Camphill’s head of development, commented:

“It has been a very difficult time for our residents who have found this situation very confusing and upsetting.”

Winner Steven Bean’s generosity aims to help a charity recover from a devastating loss, reflecting the community spirit of the lottery’s impact.
