Renowned TV chef and author Rick Stein will visit Morpeth Waterstones on Thursday, November 13 to sign copies of his latest release, Rick Stein’s Christmas.
In a conversation with Caroline Dominey, Stein explained the origins of his festive cookbook. The idea was prompted by his wife, Sarah, who urged him to create a Christmas-themed book. Being Australian, she cherishes the holiday spirit in the UK, which inspired Stein to think deeply about Christmas traditions and recipes.
“With Christmas you forget it until it comes around again, but as soon as I started thinking about recipes and memories of Christmas it became a no-brainer.”
Stein described the book as a heartfelt tribute to a special time of year, capturing the essence of Christmas in a rainy island setting.
Stein emphasized his love for traditional Christmas fare such as turkey, glazed ham, chutneys, jams, and mulled wines. He also expressed a fondness for Christmas music, including No. 1 hits and carols, which is explored in a dedicated section of the book.
“I’ve always loved carols and carol services. There are so many things that interest me, and, I suspect, other people, about Christmas.”
This event promises fans a chance to meet Stein and explore his festive culinary creations firsthand.
Rick Stein’s Christmas blends cherished recipes and festive traditions, celebrating the warmth and joy of the holiday season through food and music.
