Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood Seen Testing New TaylorMade Drivers in Abu Dhabi

Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood were spotted testing new TaylorMade drivers ahead of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Both players, part of the renowned Ryder Cup team, are long-time TaylorMade staffers.

The two golfers were observed practicing at Yas Links before the $9 million event. McIlroy appeared to be using the standard version of the TaylorMade Qi4D, while Fleetwood opted for the LS model. These drivers recently appeared on the USGA’s conforming list, signaling their eligibility for competition use.

Although limited details have been released about the Qi4D range, it’s confirmed that there are three head types available—Standard, LS, and Max—reflecting the lineup of the current Qi35 series.

“Following ongoing testing, our athletes have expressed a strong desire to play these products. In order for them to use these in tournament play, we have added them to the USGA conforming list.” — TaylorMade statement to Golf Monthly

As the first event in the DP World Tour’s Play-Off series, it remains uncertain whether McIlroy and Fleetwood will continue to use these new drivers beyond this tournament.
