Filling in for Keir Starmer in the House of Commons, Justice Secretary David Lammy began the session by making a solemn Remembrance tribute, honoring those who fought to defend freedom.
However, during Prime Minister's Questions, it was quickly noticed that he was not wearing a poppy, unlike most MPs who observed the tradition ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
About 15 minutes into the session, Lammy, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, was handed a poppy pin by Cabinet colleague Bridget Phillipson to rectify the oversight.
"I bought a new suit this morning because my Godmother said she would be watching."
"Very grateful to Ms Phillipson for ensuring that despite wearing a new suit I have managed to put my poppy on."
