Mark Shapiro, president of TKO—the joint entity formed by the merger of UFC and WWE—has extensive experience in the entertainment and sports industries. He started his career at ESPN as a production assistant and rose to executive vice president of programming and production.
Given his broad resume, Shapiro has frequently been mentioned as a possible successor to Disney CEO Bob Iger. Former ESPN CEO Steve Bornstein also endorsed him as a candidate in a Wall Street Journal profile. However, Shapiro addressed this speculation in a recent interview.
“I’m not interested,” said Mark Shapiro, clearly putting an end to rumors about succeeding Bob Iger at Disney.
Despite frequent speculation, Mark Shapiro has publicly stated he is not interested in replacing Bob Iger as Disney CEO.
Author’s note: Mark Shapiro remains a prominent executive in entertainment and sports but has explicitly declined interest in leading Disney as CEO.
