Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, stated that the government is actively working to protect the rights of media workers. He spoke in the National Assembly in response to a walkout by reporters from the Parliament’s Press Gallery.
Tarar expressed concern about the dismissal of media workers by some media houses and assured that this issue will be discussed in an upcoming meeting with media owners.
He said a permanent solution will be crafted to address the problem.
He announced that journalists recently terminated by the platform Nukta will be reemployed within forty-eight hours.
Regarding the police raid on the National Press Club in Islamabad, Tarar said a detailed report on the matter will be completed by tomorrow.
