Former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason came back to the Superdome during Week 4 of the 2026 NFL season, marking 20 years since his iconic punt block. Gleason, who has lived with ALS for 15 years, met up again with former teammate Michael Koenen at the Rebirth statue as part of Domecoming celebrations.

The moment was clearly emotional for fans and players alike, given how closely tied Gleason's story is to the city of New Orleans and the Saints organization. The Rebirth statue, put up to mark his contribution, served as the centerpiece for the reunion.

Gleason also headed up a second line parade during the festivities. The second line is a longstanding New Orleans tradition that has taken on personal meaning with the city over the years. His presence at the event drew strong applause from those gathered.
