SpaceX sent a filing to the FCC. It wants permission to launch up to 100,000 next-gen Starlink satellites. The plan promises gigabit speeds and AI networking for ground users. The company already runs a large fleet in low Earth orbit.
Analysts doubt Starlink can compete with U.S. carriers like Verizon or T-Mobile. Some think it may impact cable broadband more than wireless services. Craig Moffett from MoffettNathanson called the idea weak against wireless rivals.
